Don’t judge me.
A quick internet search revealed only one of these, listed below. I am confident that there are more, but I’ll need your help on this very important assignment.

This one is in Portland, Oregon. Drink up, you lucky bastards:
Hawthorne Hideaway
2221 SE Hawthorne Blvd., 445-4600. Daily-nightly.
Bartender’s choice: “Favorite drink to make? A Manhattan. I believe strongly in a good Manhattan.”Like walking into your kitsch-loving, movie-buff uncle’s basement playroom. Pop memorabilia adorn the warmly painted walls, and plenty of other distractions await those who want more from their bar experience than just a glass of suds. Weekly specials include the ubiquitous taco night (two for $1) and educator night (teachers drink cheap—great idea!). Free pool and the happy-hour menu (the mound of Craig’s Chili Cheese Fries, $2.95, is as big as your head) comfort the monetarily impaired. HAPPY HOUR, FOOD/DRINK SPECIALS, GAMES, JUKEBOX, DJs, WI-FI. (JL)

UPDATE!
June 26,2007:
BrookLYN!
A promising May 2007 event calendar from the Lighthouse Tavern. Clearly May has come and gone, but perhaps the Lighthouse will see fit to hook us up again someday.

Astoria, New York – Looks like you’ve got a good thing in the Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden, which hosted a teacher appreciation night on June 22nd, 2007. More of that, please.

UPDATE !!! July 17 2007 :
New Hampshire – Fuckin’ A, New Hampshire, you made me find this on my own? Where you at?
Anyway, Thursdays, from 3:45 (when they open), until 6:30pm, Fody’s Tavern in downtown Nashua rocks the 1/2 price drinks for teachers. That’s only 2 hours and 45 minutes, for all you Language Arts types, so you’ll have to drink fast! Check out the specialty drink menu if you’re so inclined…

Brooklyn again - My sources tell me that the Blue Star Oyster Bar has closed. Too bad, because allegedly the Teacher’s Happy Hour began Fridays at two (kind of early, but I suppose all of those alternative learning center types are all drunks). As a vegetarian, I’m not really a fan of oysters, but who said anything about eating?
Anyway, it’s a sad day for teachers everywhere. Someone needs to pick up the slack.

Baltimore – In addition to Spank Rock, you might also be able to take some hometown pride in Brewer’s Art. There are some unconfirmed blog reports suggesting that this fine establishment might offer a teacher’s happy hour of some sort. I have an email in to them as I type this (you can count on me), but in the meantime, check out their beer list. And the whiskey list! Teacher’s happy hour or not, I think you need to get down there.
Brewer’s Art Update – 07-19-07 – Got an email back from Brewer’s Art, and while it’s not exclusively for teachers, they get big points for getting back to me so quickly:
“Hello,
We may have appeared due to the nature of our daily happy hour – 4 to
7 Tuesday through Saturday and all day Sunday and Monday. We offer
strongly reduced prices on our house beers during these times.Cheers,
Volker Stewart
Brewer’s Art”

Easthampton, NY – According to the EastHampton Star, (did I spell the name of your town right?), the Lodge Bar and Grill (over there on 31 Race Lane) offers the following:
“Also on Friday, to accommodate teachers who might want to unwind after a week at school, the bar opens at 3 p.m. for a special teachers’ happy hour.”

As always, more info as I find it, and your help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

UPDATE 8.24.07 –
I’m a pretty big Twins fan, so I was pretty excited to learn that the Minnesota Twins AA affiliate out of New Britain, Connecticut, the New Britain Rock Cats (is that a sweet name, or what?), have an Educators Appreciation Night. Sadly, it’s come and gone already (it was in June), but if you live in Connecticut, check next year’s schedule and make sure you get out there:
All teachers, faculty, and staff are welcome to come out for our Educators Appreciation Night at New Britain Stadium to celebrate the end of the school year. All educators will receive a discounted ticket rate by showing their school ID or by pre-purchasing tickets. Enjoy great food and drinks during our special happy hour in our Sam Adam’s Bar and Grill. Gates will open at 5:05 PM and the happy hour will run until 6:35 PM. The night is designed to show our appreciation to all educators and is full of great fun and prizes for all educators involved.
Sounds like a great night to me. Also,
Players such as IF Luis Rodriuguez, P Juan Padilla OF Jason Kubel, RHP Scott Baker, RHP Boof Bonser, LHP Francisco Liriano, LHP Glen Perkins and RHP Matt Garza have all worn the Rock Cats uniform.
Well, I’m not much of a Boof Bonser game, but I’ve sat in the Metrodome (with fellow educators, no less) and watched Scotty Baker pitch 8 hitless innings, so go Rock Cats, and thank you for your contribution both to education and to baseball.

UPDATE 9.5.07
Minneapolis, MN: This is my hometown, so if bar proprietors want to get a lot of my money, it’s time to start taking care of some teachers in the booze department. Seriously.
I hear that some of the teachers and staff over at Roosevelt High have the right idea. Buster’s on 28th (formerly the Lake Inn) is right down the street from them, and I have it on good authority that a contingent made the pilgrimage over to Buster’s to tip some back and, I’m glad to say, request a teacher happy hour. One of Buster’s waitresses is a pre-service teacher at the University I attend, and despite her constant presence, my own requests, or those of the wise adults from the ‘Velt, the owner, apparently, is unmoved.
So, if you’re an educator in Minneapolis, stop on in to Buster’s and politely request some kind of teacher/educator drink special. Let them know that we are a group that knows how to drink (and, despite the report I got on the Roosevelt staff, tip), and that we are loyal to those who support us in our thankless profession. Hell, we might even be able to fund the upgrade in liquor license that would make it possible to get some whiskey at Buster’s!
It really is your civic duty.

As a bartender at the Hideaway in Portland and someone who’s done extensive volunteer work in the school system, I can confidently say that we adore teachers and pouring drinks for them. If anybody needs cheap drinks it’s our very under-appreciated public servants in No Child Left Behind purgatory. There’s a reason we do it on Thursdays! You guys do it for the kids and we’ll do it for the adults…it only seems fair.

Thanks, Jillian, and thanks to everyone at the Hideaway for, apparently, being awesome. I just might be the only citizen of Minneapolis who has never visited Portland, (which in turn is the only city to outbike us), but it’s good to know there’s a barstool waiting for me when I finally make it out there.
